Life as We Know It - Update

Friday, May 28th, 2010

It’s just been announced that the Warner Brothers romantic comedy Life as We Know It will hit theaters on October 8th.

Myself and the hilarious Jessica St. Clair, Melissa McCarthy, Andrew Daly, Rob Huebel and Bill Brochtrup play some friendly neighbors in the film. Our awesome director, Greg Berlanti, allowed the six of us the ultimate freedom to stray completely from the script, improvising through several scenes. I would imagine that most of what transpired wouldn’t be fit for… any viewing audience, let alone one expecting to see a sweet and stirring romantic comedy (IE: Rob Huebel’s monologues about oral sex with his onscreen life-partner, Bill Brochtrup).

Anyway, I’m looking forward to seeing what makes the cut.

Year of the Carnivore

Wednesday, May 26th, 2010

A very cool Canadian independent film that I’m in, called Year of the Carnivore is hitting screens in Vancouver, Toronto and Montreal on June 18th.

This gutsy romantic dramedy, about a girl that realizes she needs to bang more dudes in order to bang this one dude, was shot a couple of years ago up in my home province of B.C. and was a real blast to work on. Everyone was so nice, and not just because they’re Canadian and therefore required to be nice by Canada’s Constitution. Actually, the star of the film, Cristin Milioti, is super nice and not Canadian at all, she’s from New Jersey. People from New Jersey are pretty nice too.

The film was written and directed by Sook-Yin Lee, one of the most creative and original artists that Canada has ever produced. She also composed the score! Oh, and she’s totally nice. Like, sweet and kind and nice.

I play Dirk, Cristin’s character’s boss. Dirk is a total asshole. Not that nice. The character was a stretch for me in that I’m incredibly nice.

I hope it kicks ass up in Canada and eventually makes it’s way down here to the States. That would be nice.
